Pottery Class Terms and Conditions: Saturday Day workshops
About
Pottery Courses/classes are designed to cater for beginners with no previous experience, however, if you have thrown before you can go through a refresher and progress at a more rapid pace.
You will learn to throw simple shapes off the wheel and then how to trim and glaze them. By the end of your first course, you will have at least 3 handmade vessels (typically bowls and cups) to take home. Advanced students are able to progress onto more complex shapes, such as lidded vessels, larger vessels and sets of pieces.
Handbuilding students will learn the 3 hand-building techniques: pinching, coiling and slab building, progressing from basic forms to more complex forms.
Class details
Classes are kept small, minimum of 4, a maximum of 8.
Students are asked to wear sturdy shoes, (no thongs allowed), and bring a towel, apron, patience, persistence, a smile and a willing pair of hands to each class.
Leave your workspace or wheel and area around your workspace in the same clean state it was in when you started the class.
Enrolment
Priority is given to returning students and the remaining spots are open to new students.
Payment, online must be made prior to each day’s workshop.
Due to class demand, bookings can only be refunded with at least one week’s notice and only if there is another person who can fill the vacancy. Once a workshop has begun there are no refunds or transfers.
Firing
Students are provided with an unlimited amount of recycled ‘cocktail’ stoneware clay or Keanes Paperclay to work with in class, however, once you commit to firing pieces in the kiln, there is a charge of $10/kg for each firing, (Bisque and Stoneware), to be paid after each firing and prior to picking up final work. Basic pouring glazes are provided.
Use of own glazes is not permitted unless extensively tested previously. Discuss with the teacher.
Agreement
Payment will assume that you agree with the terms and conditions.
