Our clients came to us needing some additional spaces within their home. We were able to alter part of the existing floor plan and required only a minimal extension.

Thank you to our beautiful clients for trusting us with your home and to the wonderful @surfcoast.building.projects team for your attention to detail.

Collage paper backgrounds, gelliprinted active travel modes 🛴 🚲 🚶‍♀️ and photograph portraits coloured with Posca pens. Cannot wait to see these up at our school. And I spy one of mine as well, the middle height piece at the back of this pic, with the lid. There are not many left at @geelonggallerystore so dash in and grab yourself a bespoke bifunctional container/vase.

I will have some new bifunctional pieces ready for the Surf Coast Arts Trail next weekend: each an individual piece of art for your table, inspired by our beautiful Australian landscapes.

It’s been quiet in the studio the last few weeks

It’s been quiet in the studio the last few weeks while I try to fight off a persistent winter lurgy: but on the up side, it’s given me heaps of time to finish this dishy cardy, that I have been slowly yarning away on over the last couple of years. Loving the colour.
Pretty pleased with the result: last step, choose some groovy buttons. I am thinking of either wooden buttons or some colourful buttons: will see what I can find.

Apologies to workshop participants who attended the vase workshop @thehiveoceangrove at the end of June.
Your pieces are now dry and ready for the kiln. As soon as I get my energy back, I will pop them in the kiln, get them all fired up and glazed.

Fingers crossed I will be jumping with energy for the Surf Coast Arts Trail on next weekend. August 3rd and 4th. Hope to see you all there for a medicinal mulled wine. 🍷🍷

I will be throwing open my doors to the Studio and Gallery for the Surf Coast Arts Trail.

And discounting some older series of works, and lots of samples and seconds, massively reduced, get in early for first picks. Clearing my shelves making way for new work.

Only 2 spots left in the ‘Flow’ exhibition, Pneumatophore Bud Vase handbuilding workshop this Saturday 29th June, 2-4pm at The Hive Gallery in Ocean Grove.

I will provide all clay and equipment and all you have to do is bring an apron and towel and your ‘budding’ creativity. It’s going to be alot of fun seeing the vases ‘growing’ up in search of the sun.

I have just finished making a few examples for the workshop and I popped them into their first firing tonight. I will glaze them all differently so that you can choose if you would like your vase glazed or not.
I will fire and glaze (optional) your vase for you, and it will be ready for collection within 4 weeks of the workshop.

It’s a great opportunity to visit the exhibition and make your own ‘breathing ground’ vase or sculpture. Bookings via @thehiveoceangrove Only 2 spots left.

Over 3 sessions of monthly Sunday workshops, we learnt all about ceramic glazes: what are the main components of a glaze, how to make a glaze, how to throw test tiles, and finishing with the big reveal to many ooohs, arghhhs and ‘what the’s? 😀

Was a wonderful way to finish the monthly Sunday workshops for the winter break.

Stay tuned for open studio access announcements in the spring and the development of some new ceramic projects over the winter.

Over the winter I will running some taster workshops: starting with a handbuilding workshop at the Hive Gallery, in Ocean Grove, as part of the ‘Flow’ exhibition for the month of June @thehiveoceangrove . The workshop will be on June 29th, bookings through the Hive Gallery. Come and join me for a fun bud vase making workshop inspired by the pneumatophores that provide oxygen to the mangroves. The fire will be on and you can enjoy a wonder through ‘Flow’ Stories of the Wetlands exhibition as well.

‘Flow’ Stories of the Wetlands exhibition @thehiveoceangrove opened yesterday. What a wonderful day. Thanks to everyone who came to the opening, 🙏❤️🙏. It was lovely to see you. There were over 200 people at the opening of artworks by 26 artists. The gallery was buzzing.

I took the video at the end of the opening, when most people had left and there was some space for me to quickly capture a brisk stroll around the gallery.

I wish to thank Karen (and Jane) from the Hive Gallery for the exquisite curation of my installation piece, ‘Breathing Grounds’. I hope you enjoy the immersion into the mangrove pneumatophores.

It’s on until June 30th, Fri, Sat, Sundays. I can’t wait to go back to quietly absorb all the other artworks and read all the artist statements. I missed all the work downstairs.

Seeing my ‘canvas’ for such beautiful food, always brings a smile on a sunny winters day. 🌞

@feedmesurfcoast rescues some ugly cauliflowers which get steamed, dried and reconstituted into @inglenook_dairy cream before being pressed into a terrine mould. This technique makes the cauliflower dense and “meaty” in texture. It’s then pan fried to order.

The leaves from the cauliflower are kept and combined with other herbs to make a tangy green sauce spike with pickled rescue apples, shallots and crunchy toasted hazelnuts from @dustysbulkfoods.

Yummy little vegetarian number😋
