Friday Evening – Pottery Classes – September 2023 – 3 week course – “Clay and Chardonnay”
NEW COURSE: FRIDAY Clay and Chardonnay: Evening Pottery Classes at ‘karst ceramics studio’ in Torquay.
September 2023 term. 6.30pm to 9pm.
Great way to end the week with some time to unwind, meet some new people whilst learning a new skill and enjoying some ‘Clay and Chardonnay’ (Chardonnay totally optional).
Starting Friday 8th September for 3 weeks. 2 weeks of wheel throwing classes, covering wheel throwing and trimming techniques for making cups and bowls and 1 week of glazing.
If you have always wanted to try the potter’s wheel, get back into pottery after a break, or just learn something new in this 3-week class, now is the time to give it a go in a supportive environment.
I have been attending classes with Karen for many years now, starting with her term classes and then moving into the monthly weekend sessions. Karen is a fantastic teacher! She takes a step-by-step approach to getting the basics of wheel throwing understood and then builds on those skills, adding more complex pieces to your repertoire. Karen has a love of ceramics that is infectious and with her classes creates a relaxing space to set your creativity free. Lee Turnley.
Classes are suitable for any skill level, especially beginners.
All equipment and clay and a range of basic glazes included: $225 for 3 classes.
For all pieces that you choose to keep, firing charges apply, $10 per kg per firing. Each piece requires two kiln firings. (This encourages students to be a bit more discerning about the work they choose to keep, as fired work is on earth forever and cannot be recycled after it has commenced the firing process. It’s our chance to be a bit more ethical and sustainable. I can help you choose your best work if that helps too. Beginners generally make work that weighs around 1-1.5kg)
10% off for returning students. Contact Karen for the discount code.
There is an opportunity to do one makeup class per term, but ONLY if there is a spot free in another class in the same monthly term. So, please make sure you can attend all classes before booking. No refunds or transfers are permitted.
No more than 6 students per course, for maximum help and assistance, in a supportive environment.
Each student is required to bring an old bath towel and apron to each class. No thongs or bare feet permitted. FYI: Long or fake fingernails are difficult to throw with.
Payment will confirm and imply agreement with all Terms and Conditions.
